App for Windows
MRIYU on your computer: notifications, calls, screen sharing, games and updates.
MRIYU for Windows is a separate app with the site inside. It opens straight to your messages, keeps running in the background and makes sure you never miss a call. The app's windows follow the Windows 11 style and match the site's light or dark theme.
How to install
- Open Settings → Account.
- In the App for Windows row, click Download for Windows.
- Run the downloaded file — the app installs by itself and a MRIYU shortcut appears on your desktop.
How the window is laid out
Just like Telegram Desktop — nothing extra, as much room as possible for chats and the feed:
- On the left is a narrow column of sections: icons with counters for new messages and friend requests. Hover over an icon to see the section name. The three-line button at the top expands the column into a full menu with labels and collapses it back — the app remembers your choice.
- The first item in the column is My Page with your photo: one click takes you to your profile. Below the sections is the Customize menu button: hide items there and drag them into the order you like (see Settings).
- At the bottom of the column are the notifications bell, the Settings gear and a three-line button (your photo, if My Page is removed from the column). It opens the menu: My Page, Edit, Theme, Log out.
- At the top is a thin bar with the section name, a search for people and communities, and the player when music is on. Drag the window by this bar.
- Conversations look like Telegram: your messages on the right in a green bubble (blue in the dark theme), the other person's on the left in white, with a tail on the last message of a series. Time and read ticks sit inside the bubble, and the message field spans the full width at the bottom. If the conversation has a chat background, it is shown instead of the default one.
- Message actions work like Telegram: right-click a message to open a menu at the cursor — reactions, Reply, Copy text (or Copy selection if you highlighted part of it), Forward, Remove, Select. A plain click selects nothing, so you can highlight and copy text freely. After Select, click other messages to mark them; Esc cancels.
- Double-click a message to reply to it.
- Edit changes your own text message within 48 hours (or press ↑ in an empty field for your last one). «Editing» appears above the field, Enter saves, Esc cancels; the message gets an «edited» mark.
- Pin shows the message as a «Pinned message» bar above the chat for both people. Click the bar to jump to it, the cross unpins.
- In group chats and channels, right-click for Reply, copying, Forward to a private chat and Remove — your own message, or any message if you are an admin. Double-click replies there too.
- In the messenger you can resize the chat list: drag its right edge. Double-click the edge to restore the default width.
Settings and appearance
The gear at the bottom of the column opens Settings as a window over the page — sections on the left, content on the right. Drag it by its header like a regular Windows window; double-click the header to put it back in the centre. Close it with the cross, the Esc key or a click outside.
The first section is Appearance: theme, colours, font, chat and page look — see Make it yours. Only in the app does it also have:

Scale, Liquid Glass and the app settings are remembered on this computer; everything else is saved to your profile. The chat background is changed in the conversation itself — see Chat background.
What the app can do

The app's own windows (screen picker, notifications, offline page) are in Ukrainian for now.
Running in the background
The close button hides the window to the tray (next to the clock) — messages and calls keep coming. To quit the app completely, right-click the MRIYU icon in the tray and choose «Вийти» (quit).
Updates
The app updates itself. When a new version is out, Downloading update… appears in the bottom-left corner, followed by Update available with a Restart button. Once the update is downloaded, a «Оновлення MRIYU готове» (update ready) card with a «Перезапустити» (restart) button appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. If you don't click it, the update is installed when you quit the app.
