App for macOS

MRIYU on a Mac: macOS notifications, a Dock badge, calls, screen sharing and updates.

MRIYU for macOS is a separate app with the site inside, just like the app for Windows. It opens straight to your messages, keeps running in the background and makes sure you never miss a call. It runs on macOS 11 or later — on both Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and Intel Macs.

How to install

  1. Open Settings → Account.
  2. In the App for macOS row, click Download for Mac. For a Mac with an Intel processor, use the For Intel Macs link under the description.
  3. Open the downloaded file and drag MRIYU to the Applications folder.
  4. On first launch, macOS warns that it can't verify the developer. Right-click MRIYU in Applications → Open → Open. On macOS 15 or later: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. You only need to do this once.

Launch MRIYU from Applications, not from the disk image or Downloads — otherwise the app can't update itself.

The window

The same as in the Windows app: the sections column on the left, a thin bar with search at the top, messages like in Telegram. The window buttons (red, yellow, green) sit in the top-left corner above the column; the three-line button is right below them. Drag the window by the top bar.

What the app does

Feature How it works
Notifications New messages arrive as regular macOS notifications — they show up in Notification Center and respect Do Not Disturb. Click one to open the chat. Turn them on or off in System Settings → Notifications → MRIYU.
Dock icon The icon shows the number of unread messages and bounces when a message arrives. Right-click it to jump to Messages or News.
Calls On an incoming call the window comes to the front and the Dock icon keeps bouncing until you answer. The first time, macOS asks for microphone and camera access.
Screen sharing On macOS 15 or later — the system picker for a screen or window; on older versions — the MRIYU picker with Весь екран (entire screen) and Вікно (window) tabs. The first time, allow MRIYU Screen Recording in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Computer sound isn't shared on a Mac.
Menu bar icon Next to the clock — the MRIYU icon with a menu: open the window, reload, check for updates, quit.
Games Games from the Games section open in a separate window.
Offline With no connection you'll see a Немає з’єднання з MRIYU (no connection) page. The site opens by itself once the network is back.

Menu and shortcuts

The menu bar at the top of the screen has the usual Mac menus: Edit (⌘C, ⌘V, ⌘Z, Emoji & Symbols), View, Go and Window. The app menus are in Ukrainian.

Keys Action
⌘1 / ⌘2 / ⌘3 News, Messages, Friends
⌘[ / ⌘] Back / forward
⌘R Reload the page
⌘, Settings
⌘W or the red button Hide the window (MRIYU keeps running)
⌘Q Quit MRIYU

Settings

Settings → Appearance has a Desktop app block: Open at login, Open hidden (the window stays closed and MRIYU waits in the Dock) and a shortcut to show or hide the window — for example ⇧⌘M.

Updates

The app updates itself. When a new version comes out, Downloading update… appears in the bottom-left corner, then Update available with a Restart button — plus an Оновлення MRIYU готове (update ready) notification. To check by hand: MRIYU → Перевірити оновлення… in the menu bar.

The version is shown in Settings (the App for macOS row) and in the menu bar icon's menu.
