Search, folders and calls

Search the whole history, jump to a date, chat folders, Saved Messages, timed mute and the call list.

Search in a chat

Click the magnifier at the top of a chat or press Ctrl+F. The search covers the whole conversation history, not just the loaded messages. The field shows how many matches were found ("3 of 17"); the "Older" and "Newer" arrows or Enter move to the next match and highlight it. Message text is searched; photo captions and file names are not searched yet.

The calendar button "Jump to date" opens the first message of the chosen day.

Search across all chats

Start typing in the search above the chat list. Besides people, you'll see "Messages" (personal conversations — click to open the chat at that exact message) and "Messages in group chats" (groups — the chat itself opens).

Saved Messages

The very first chat in the list is "Saved Messages" with a bookmark icon. It's a conversation with yourself: send notes, files, links and any messages there. Saved Messages is the first target in the "Forward" menu. It has no calls or typing status, and its messages never count as unread.

Folders

"New folder" in the filter row above the chat list (or in the main menu) creates a folder: give it a name and choose chats. You can have up to 10 folders; they appear as tabs with unread counters. Right-click a tab for "Edit folder" or "Delete folder". In the folder window you can pick a "Folder color": the tab gets a colored dot, and the selected folder and its unread counter are highlighted in that color.

If the tabs don't fit, scroll the row with the mouse wheel or the arrows at its edges — the selected folder always stays in view.

Pinned chats

Pinned chats always stay at the top of the list. Drag a chat with the mouse to change their order.

Timed mute

"Mute notifications" in the chat menu offers "For 1 hour", "For 8 hours", "For 2 days" or "Forever". When the time is up, notifications turn back on by themselves. While a chat is muted, the menu shows "Turn on notifications". On a phone you can only turn notifications on or off for now.

Status in the list

While the other person is typing, the chat row shows "typing…" instead of the last message, and while recording — "recording voice…" or "recording video…".

Drafts

Unfinished text is saved on the server: start a message on your computer and finish it on your phone.

Calls

The "Calls" section (in the messenger's main menu) lists your recent calls: an arrow shows the direction, missed calls are red, and the duration is shown next to each. Use the "All" and "Missed" filters; "Call back" calls the person again.
